Apple has issued its first statement on iPhone 5 orders, saying it’s been ‘completely blown away’, reports AllThingsD.

“Pre-orders for iPhone 5 have been incredible,” Apple spokeswoman Nat Kerris told AllThingsD. “We’ve been completely blown away by the customer response.”

The first batch of iPhone 5 devices were sold out in just one hour after they went on sale at midnight last night. The wait is now two weeks for an iPhone 5 when ordering online.

Desperate shoppers can wait in line at the Apple Store and other retail locations on September 21st for the in-store launch.
