iPhone Dev-Team Releases Jailbreak of iOS 6 for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod 4G

The iPhone Dev-Team has released a tethered jailbreak of iOS 6 for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and iPod touch 4G.

Just like at the at the wind-down of last year’s WWDC, we’re releasing a developer-only version of a redsn0w tethered jailbreak for app developers.

Supported Devices:
● iPod touch 4G
● iPhone3GS
● iPhone4 (GSM)
● iPhone4 (CDMA)

IMPORTANT WARNINGS:

UNLOCKERS AND THOSE PRESERVING THEIR UNLOCKABLE BASEBANDS SHOULD STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS! You will very likely lose your unlockable baseband if you try to install iOS 6.

THIS JAILBREAK IS INTENDED ONLY FOR DEVELOPERS OF JAILBROKEN APPS! There are just too many broken components (Apple’s official apps, 3rd-party App Store apps, Cydia apps, etc) for this to be useful to anyone but those truly looking to fix bugs in their iOS 6 jailbroken apps.

CYDIA WILL NOT BE INSTALLED because it just hasn’t had time to be updated to the new SDK. The only access you’ll get to the device is through SSH or afc2. If you don’t know what either of those are, you shouldn’t be using this developer version of redsn0w!

THIS REDSN0W WILL NOT HACTIVATE! You need to be an iOS developer with a registered UDID to get past the activation screens. PLEASE DON’T PIRATE APPLE SOFTWARE! Only registered devs with Macs can develop iOS applications,and only those people will have legitimate access to the beta IPSWs.

THIS IS A TETHERED JAILBREAK ONLY! No new exploits are being exposed with this jailbreak (it uses geohot’s limera1n bootrom exploit), but that comes at a cost. You will need to use redsn0w to “Just boot” button to be able to use many things, including Cydia and Safari. If you see a white icon for Cydia, or if Cydia or Safari crash when you open them, it’s because you didn’t boot tethered.

Apple Closes Exploit Used By Developers to Root iDevices Since 2010

Apple has closed an exploit which was found by comex in 2010 and used by developers to root their iDevices, reports pod2g.

R.I.P. the exploit used by developers to root the device. Found by @comex in 2010. A 2 years old bug closed with iOS 6.

For those wondering this kernel bug was unusable for a general release jailbreak because it required an iOS Developer account.

The iOS 6 Beta Has Already Been Jailbroken

MuscleNerd has announced the successful jailbreak of his iPod touch 4G on iOS 6 Beta.

Rocky Racoon Package Untethers Your Previously Tethered Jailbreak


The Chronic Dev-Team has released Rocky Racoon 5.1.1, a package in Cydia that will untether your device if it is currently running a tethered jailbreak of iOS 5.1.1.

Rocky Racoon is the underlying untethered exploit that will be installed by popular jailbreak tools such as redsn0w and absinthe… if you are using 5.1.1 and you can reboot your device and have it still be jailbroken, you have Rocky Racoon.

If you device relies on Rocky Racoon for untethering, which includes nay iPad 2, iPad 3, or iPhone 4S running 5.1.1., uninstalling this package will unjailbreak your device.

You can install Rocky Racoon from the System section in Cydia.

Seas0nPass Updated to Perform Untethered Jailbreak of Apple TV 2

FireCore has announced an update to Seas0nPass that provides an untethered jailbreak for the latest 5.0.1 (5.1.1) firmware for the Apple TV 2. Unfortunately Seas0nPass is not yet compatible with the new ATV3.

Massive thanks goes to @pod2g and Co. for the countless hours that went into making this new release possible.
